Debtors
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.” - 1 Corinthians 15:10
Paul viewed himself as a debtor to the grace of God. Paul’s sin was greater than he could pay, and Jesus paid the price in full. That debt is something that motivated Paul to work hard for God his whole life.
I am a huge debtor. In dying in my stead, Jesus conferred a value on my life. It is a currency that I do not full know how to spend. I owe an extraordinary amount because he has given me so much. I know that my discipleship is going to cost me a lot. It may cost me everything, and that is OK. It is worth it.
By God’s grace I am what I am. Whatever He molds me into, whatever work that lies ahead, whatever sacrifices will need to be made, it will be worth it. I am determined that his grace towards me will not be in vain. All that I am and have is on the table.
