Why Does God Allow Evil to Continue
Why Does God Allow Evil to Continue
“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” - 2 Peter 3:9
Why does God allow bad people to keep perpetrating their evil on other people? Why, if He has the power to stop them, does He not do it quickly? This verse in Peter does not give all the these reasons, but it provides a big one.
Me. God was patient with me, while I perpetrated evil on others. He was long suffering while I hurt others callously. He was patient with me, wishing that I would repent, and for that I am eternally grateful. His love for me, stayed His had, as to not wipe me off the face of this earth. It was more than I deserved.
God is not just patient for me. He is patient wishing all would come to repentance. He allows some evil to continue because He loves you, wishing you to repent. I should also be patient, wanting others who are doing evil, even evil on me and my family, to repent as well. God’s long suffering for which I am eternally grateful for, is the same long suffering that I should pray is exhibited towards others as well.
