All That You Have
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” - Matthew 13:45-46
Our love for God is to be a complete and whole love. Our devotion and desire for Him is to unassailable. He is our life and our length of days. He is our creator and sustainer. In Him we have our being and our breath. There is nothing more fundamental to our very existence that Him.
Yet, as wonderful and amazing God is, our desires are often divided. Our love and loyalty to our Alpha and Omega is often challenged. Some times is a sin that we love so much we are hard pressed to truly repent from. Perhaps its a relationship that we cannot bear to be without. Maybe, like the rich young ruler, its our love of money and the pleasures of life. Possibly its the seemingly impossible choice between family and God. Conceivably its giving up our life completely.
Whoever saves his life will lose his life eternally. Whoever loses his life for the gospel will save his life eternally. Whoever loves anything more than God is not worthy of Him. We have to love God more than anything. We have to love God more than everything. If we had to give up everything we had in this life, including our life, it would still not be too much of a sacrifice. He is worth anything and everything.
